Brave Love Description
Global Warming is sadly ignored at the movies. If the suits won't fund it then we enthusiastic alternative film-makers must step up.
In movie ancient history as in 3 years ago, we saw "Don't Look Up" which did a comet allegory to ramp up the drama.
"Brave Love" gives you the real deal with actual Global Warming, and we do it with the brilliant dramatic device of Mad Romantic Comedy.
Valerie is the mistress of Evershed, an oil billionaire who delights in attention-getting showmanship as a Global Warming sceptic
with a deep dark Global Warming secret. Valerie starts having Global Warming awareness thoughts.
Oh no! Just the thing to upset the elite billionaire bubble! Valerie, what are you thinking?
Your job is to look good at parties and live in an obsessive, unhealthy co-dependent relationship. And don't fall in love with your new greenie friend!
Iconic NZ writer Katherine Mansfield penned "Brave Love" the story in 1915. We retell it in the present-ish day.
The original is set in the great London heat wave of 1914 which is driving everyone mad.
Katherine also gives us a road trip, Stockholm Syndrome, and Besties. Valerie and her BFF Millie hit the heights of snarky gossip.
We think this is a window on Katherine and her BFF Beatrice Hastings who between them were outrageous and witty feminist queens of 110 years ago.
As far as we know this is the first ever single-narrative feature-length movie adapted from the writing of Katherine Mansfield.
Sources include “Brave Love”, “The Garden Party”, “The Modern Soul” plus Katherine’s other stories along with letters, journals and book reviews.
"Brave Love" the movie is a kiwi ingenuity passion project, filmed with a green screen and mock epic visual effects.
Love it like we do? Then give us shout outs on social to signal the suits that Global Warming drama can be a thing.
And if gonzo VFX is less your thing then ask yourself this question – would this go well as a pro budget remake?
If yes then shout out to help make it happen and you can do something, even this small thing, for Global Warming awareness.
